Generator installation in Scarborough: what to expect
Outages in Scarborough come with ice storms and summer thunderstorms. Even a few hours without power matters if your basement relies on a sump pump or someone at home relies on medical equipment.
We size the generator from a load assessment — essential circuits only, or the whole home — install the automatic transfer switch, and coordinate the gas connection with a licensed gas fitter.
Prefer a portable generator? A properly installed inlet and interlock lets you power the panel safely, without dangerous back-feeding into Toronto Hydro's lines.
Local notes: Scarborough
Ageing 1950s–70s wiring. Original wiring in post-war homes is often serviceable but overloaded, with too few circuits for modern kitchens. We add circuits and upgrade services rather than rewiring what doesn't need it.
Toronto Hydro. Scarborough is served by Toronto Hydro; service upgrades include the utility disconnect and reconnect.
